As the price of gas goes from ridiculous to sublime i was wondering if any dealers on the forum want to comment on just how bad the cost of gas is affecting the various classes of RV sales.

I am not a dealer, but with the number of Manufactures that have scaled back or closed the doors. I can only imagine that the dealers are really feeling the pinch.

Local dealer here stopped rv sales and service, now is a rv rental business, seems to be doing pretty good.

The dealers that are hurting in my area would love to reply, if they were still in business!
Youngs RV, in the business for over 30 years in Lancaster, closed it's doors last year.
Santa Rosa RV, also in business for 30+ years, located in Northern California, just closed it's doors a few months ago.
I think this pretty much answers any questions about dealers hurting.

I have to believe that they are starting to feel it although I haven't seen any evidence in their pricing yet. We've been looking at motorhomes for next year but we have now decided to temporarily 'suspend' our plan until we see how fuel pricing plays out by next spring.
Here my naive thought process. If I am able to save $25K-$30K on a new vehicle over today's prices simply because of fuel prices causing havoc with rv sales, then I might consider still buying a new unit even if gas prices continue to climb a little higher. When all is said and done, how much gas could I buy for $30K over and above what I would use anyway and assuming I would have paid the regular price for a new rv had fuel not gone up.

Stopped by a RV supply/repair facility near Laughlin NV last week. The owner commented business was off as there were fewer people traveling. I said I thought things might be better as people would probably fix the old rig rather than purchase new but he said so far it didn't seem to be happening.

We moved!! No more nasty neighbors, no more rotten parking. I am saving this picture just to remind myself how bad it was.

Yeah, they're hurting.
This Feb we were in Tucson "just looking" at new rigs with no intention to buy. A dealer we were talking to had all of the rigs on his lot and in his other more local lots set up with Hydro-Hot heating systems which we were dead set against. When we left his place, we told him to call us if they got a coach in with a regular LP heating system that we could look at. We got a call in three days that they were bringing one in from Atlanta, just for us to see. No obligation.
They were extremely anxious to make other major changes as well. Yes, we also got a very good deal on it besides.
They're selling, but they're also hurting, especially with the bigger rigs.
