The news today reports that used SUV and used trucks are losing value at a greater rate, as no one wants to rush to buy them.

For the near future, this might apply to used campers and used trailers, too?

From what I've seen trailers already lose value at an insane rate. My in-laws got a 3 year old 31' Open Road for $16K. I don't know what ours was new but we got it 2 years old for under $7K. It's a small camper but was in great shape.

P/U our new fiver 3 weeks ago when we did our dealer was preping 2 more for delivery the same day DW had to stop back by dealership last week and said they were prepping 4 more to be picked up that day maybe it was just a spurt but around us prices seem to be down a bit and I think people like us are taking advantage of it we traded our 96 no slide for 08 dbl slide also we have several very nice lakes and campgrounds Fed and State so fuel isn't as large an issue Happy Camping

I stopped by our local dealer last week and he was complaining it was going to be July before he could replace the units he's moved this spring. Granted they still had several new units, but he said they've moved more than normal this spring.

I am an RV dealer. I know there are some manufacturers that have gone out of business and dealers are hurting in some places, however our store has had an interesting spring with new RV sales UP over last year, but our pre-owned are down. What is a little strange is large 5th wheels are selling very well and our ultra lite sales are down a little.... go figure.

One thing to remember is that while things are down, the RV market is still stronger that it was a few years ago. The RV industry has been in about a 10 year growth cycle and that could not last forever. There are many people in this business that have never experienced a down year or period. The ones that have know this has to cycle, it just can't go up forever. Things were very bad in this industry in the early 80's and I don't think we are headed back there yet.

Our local news(Tulsa OK) had a segment on the other night about how RV dealers are doing very well. They said that people are buying them and camping locally.
