Sorry about your truck. Always sad to hear of someone being ripped off by scoundrels. Hope your insurance company fully compensates you and you can replace it with another one.

Safest anti-theft system for gas vehicles-

Disconnect power to the coil (not with a 'hidden' switch inside the vehicle) then physically lock hood in such a way that bolt cutters can't get to the lock or chain.

Diesels need a fuel cut-off switch under the hood in leiu of disconnecting the coil.

That is a BIG wrench, sorry for your loss. AOL had a news story last week listing the 20 highest areas for stolen cars and 10 of the locations were in CA. Sorry to hear yours added to that statistic.

Sorry for your loss. I hope the police find the thieves and your vehicle quickly, before it gets stripped or destroyed.
My friend's Dad had a Cadillac once that was stolen. And when it was recovered about a month later the only thing that was wrong with it was they'd removed the front seat. And who ever did it must've either been a true professional, or another Cadillac owner with a heart. Because for starters it had a "Power Seat", and instead of just cutting the wires to remove it etc. they actually took the time to carefully unplug everything, and do it right. In fact they even screwed the mounting bolts back into their holes when they finished and then locked it up afterwards.

I sure do hope you can still go on your trip. I'd see if I could find a similar 3/4 ton with a V8 for a replacement.
