On day to day travel staying only a night is there any harm in leaving the trailer hitched up.There is probably a way(put front post down ect..).Just wanted to verify any techniques you guys might share.First time with a 30 ft coachman, picking it up next weekend.Had an Aliner but this is a different ballgame. Thanks

There is a thread on this same topic out there with a lot of replies to it. Hopefully you can find it so you get some good feedback but to me it seemed that most people said if they were just staying one night that they would leave the trailer hitched up to the truck. I am not sure myself if I would want to leave that amount of weight strain on the truck, plus it only takes about 10 min. (if that) to unhitch.

I would leave it hitched. If I'm worried about strain on the truck I would put the hitch jack down to relieve some of the strain, but I don't think it's necessary. You put a lot more strain when towing than when sitting still. Relax and enjoy!

We have done this in the past. We stopped a few times and did just that when we had our TT. Just unhooked the sway and WD things and put the front foot down. Next A.m... Just the opposite and we were on our way. DW and I had the camper hitching down to a science. Less than 10 minutes from backing up to the hitch and on our way.

Just be sure to disconnect any WD and anti-sway equiptment...

I currently have a Grand Junction and have done it with no trouble. In the past with an another fifth wheel (Colorado) I noticed that it put one of the slides in a somewhat bind a couple times thus I quit doing it with that trailer. Probably all depends on the particular trailer. As long as there isn't a slide bind, I would say you are good to go.

Nothing wrong with staying hitched as long as you can get level. Just keep in mind weather conditions though. I once stayed hitched for an overnight in Northern Oklahoma, used the tongue jack to level and put down the stabs, and hooked up to electric and water. About 2:00 AM ranger drove by waking everyone up and advising them to head for the tornado shelter about a mile away and we and our traveling companion who ALSO stayed hitched could NEITHER of us use our vehicles to drive to the shelter. Winds were already over 50 MPH with driving rain and we ended up jogging through the woods to the shelter, arriving just as they blew the all clear. Not a good night

I have hitched mine the day before, I don't hook up the 7 way connector until I am ready to roll.

I leave my 5er hitched, but I install my between-the-tire chocks and lower the rear stabilizers.
