The water just sits in there for days sometimes. The longer it sits the baggier the topper gets. Then it holds more water. The water gets nasty and discolors the topper. I've even seen ducks swimming in some guy's topper.
Why not have a drain hole sewn into the center? I know it couldn't have a metal grommet in it or it might not roll up right. But a little 1" hole with a sewn border would roll up OK.
I can't think of any good reason not to have a drain hole. Can any of you?

That is a good idea. I cleaned my roof the other day and the topper over the biggest slide is horrible. Plus the only way I have found to clean them, is do a little at a time as it rolls / unrolls.
Another solution is to put a ratchet on the roll mechanism so that you could keep the topper taunt and water would not accumulate in the first place.

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having a topper in the first place?!?! 
I've seen some folks stuff a bag between the top of the slide and topper to make it pitch better. We never had a water build up problem on ours.

This is yet another reason full-timers and experienced RVers are replacing standard slide-topper fabric with Sunbrella and other brand sun-shade fabric. It keeps anything but water off the roof while allowing water to pass through. It also doesn't "pop" in the wind.
I've read some folks use a beach ball to keep toppers from collecting water.

I drain the topper a few different ways,
1- raise or lower the trailer, let gravity do the rest
2- close the slide, make sure DW is not standing near by
I think holes would clog up guickly

Hmmm. holes would defeat the purpose of the topper.
1. Get a soccer/basket ball and slide it between the slide and the topper, which would drain the water.
2. run the slide in after rain to drain the topper.

I have an idea...park your rigs on a hill then all the water will just run off 
Really though are those toppers just small roll out awnings...could they not be mounted at an angle some how...Like when we pull out the awning and tilt one side down lower to help them drain off rain water. JMO

Hummm...an awning designed to keep water off of the slide roof that drains that water ONTO the slide roof. I'm AMAZED they haven't thought of that since they had no problem inventing the trash compactor (takes 200 lb. of trash and turns it into 200 lb. of trash)
