Water and leaves collecting on the toppers make a major mess after several weeks. Would it be that hard to manufacture the topper so it tilts a bit like an awning so the water would run off? I have used noodles under the slide toppers but its a pain in the butt with four slides.

We are presently camping and are having lots of rain and wind. I just climbed up the ladder and looked under the topper. What did I see. Water on top of the slide roof; but no debris. So for all you smarta$$e$ out there, they don't prevent water from getting on top.
As mentioned they are there to prevent leaves, twigs, etc from accumulating.

Camp in NM. No rain, no problem.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see a big problem here. After all, how long does it take to bring in and bring out the slideouts - 45 seconds? I can't see spending money or time with beach balls, sticks of firewood, noodles, wedges, etc. to simply dump water and debris off the awnings. If you're going to go to all that trouble and expense, just get rid of the awnings and wash the top of the slideouts every time it rains. I think we sometimes create "problems" where none really exist. Guess I'll just continue to be lazy and happy.

After the rain we push the buttons to bring the slides in and then back out...

I just made a little ramp to put under my slide cover that makes the cover tip just a bit, just got to make sure that it gets taken off before i close the slide.

Thanks again for all of the posts. I like my slide toppers. I think they contribute significantly to keeping the camper cooler. As we seldom run our A/C.
It rained the day I started this thread. The slide topper over the curb-side slide filled&spilled 5 times. Usually triggered by using the steps at the door. Which is where the topper empties. To say I'm motivated to resolve this problem is an understatement!
To put something under or on the slide would involve using a stepladder. And I would either forget to put the object in or forget to take it out.
These slides are designed to work with no toppers, in the driving rain. So I think a little water draining out of a hole should be no problem.
I looked at Carefree's pop-up support. But I think a drain hole would be simpler. I just hope it's not so simple that it's stupid.
