Thanks for the feed back, we are pulling a trailer. So I think are best option will be an early start and try to clear Atlanta by 2:30.

If you are going to go through Atlanta Friday afternoon, do not go through town on I/75. Take I/285 West. While there are a lot of trucks, taking I/285 West might be faster. I/75-85 (we call it "The Connector") through Atlanta seems to clog-up every afternoon by about 3 pm, especially Friday. Traffic will be very heavy, but it usually moves quite well on I/285. Don't let the trucks intimidate you. Stay out of the right lane where I/285 crosses I/20, it is an exit only for I/20 and is usually backed-up for a mile or so with trucks.

When you get on the south-side, check-out the airport runway that goes over the interstate.

Grey Eagle, I have not seen any restriction for trailers in the HO
V lanes in Atlanta, and have used them myself. Some of the other drivers seem to get a little upset about it though.
