Anyone know why the owners manual states not to use the 12 volt 10 amp DC outlet to charge deep cycle batteries? Wouldn't this be a better way to re-charge the TT battery instead of through the electrical converter?

Others will be in here soon. My thought is the 12v 10a DC outlet on my C46540 is unregulated, it will not power down. Might damage your battery if left to charge for hours.

Floyd is correct. As a battery reaches full charge, the converter in your TT will "back off", i.e. reduce the charge rate to the battery. Not so with the unregulated feed from the generator.

You'll end up over charging your battery which can lead to premature failure of your battery.

Then why even have that as an option?

Most all RV type generators do, guess it is better than nothing. Just do not leave it unattended for long.

Jay... the option is available for 12v accessories such as a 12v compressor, etc.
