When we went to the dealer to take delievery of our Monaco, we found it doesnt come with a spare. THey claim noe of them do.
Has anyone else found this?
Where do I get a 16X6 eight lug rim and tire?
Dealer claims they are trying to get one but then comes the problem of where to mount it.
We re in a time crunch for this.
Suppose to leave on a trip in two weeks.

Maybe none of the Monaco's do, but our Phoenix Cruiser surely has one.....and I'm glad we have it. Some people have written in the past about not wanting the extra weight, but I don't agree.

Is the spare tire an option on the Monaco? Maybe you can order it along with a mounting kit direct from them.

Many class C and A MH do not come with a spare. Ours did. It is mounted underneath MH just in front of the trailer hitch. A class C on a Ford or Chevy 450 sized chassis may not have room for a spare underneath. How about on the rear bumper.
Make sure you have some type of RV road service Like Coach-net (Monaco may provide it for the first year) or Good Sam. Then use it if you need a tire repair.

It's very common for Class C's to come from the factory with no spare. It's an option on the cutaway chassis they buy from Ford. If you want one, you should be able to find a wheel and tire at a light / medium truck tire dealer. The most practical mounting is usually a vertical support tied to the frame at the rear. It may have to be fabricated by a welding shop.
One way to deal with it is to go without it. You probably also don't have a jack, support plates, breaker bar, lug wrench, and torque wrench. If you have a tire failure, you will be calling a road service. Be sure they come prepared to repair or replace the tire.
Good Sam ERS is one widely used road service. I also strongly suggest a shake-down cruise before your trip to find out what else you don't have.

I did find a lug wrench in the coach but nothing else.
It just seems strange to me that this wasnt included with the vehicle.
Using a tire carrier that mounts to the rear bumper wont work
because the bumper is a plastic piece with a steel support
on the top.
Its just frustrating.

Great advice! Even an overnight trip will help you figure out what you need. If you are seasoned campers, with a new rig, then you probably know all this!

If you really want the spare, and there is no place provided by the mfgr., and, you don't plan to use the towing receiver, you could probably have a tire holder fabricated to mount in the hitch. A welding shop could probably build one fairly quickly. If you do plan to tow, you can probably have one of those extension receivers made, that will hold the tire, as well as the towing bar or ball.

I still think that there should be a place for the spare, even if they didn't sell the RV with a spare. Is there anything listed in the Owner's Manual? We've got a 2000 Winnebago, and the spare is under the chassis, behind the rear axle.

My two cents.

If you are strictly traveling in the USA then no spare is needed. The amount of frustration not to mention the body parts you might tear up changing an RV tire on the road just stinks.

Started RV'ing in the 70's and have yet to change an RV tire on the road. (lucky I guess). Jayco gives Coach-net free for the first year and it also covers your personal vehicles and my wife and daughter carry a card with them in case they need gas or a flat changed. I will renew.

I used coach-net once on my RV and it work perfect.(not tire related)

Just my opinion but a cell phone and an emergency road service will save tons on the back, mind and RV parts that get stripped or broken.

I agree that the best tire changing equipment is a cell phone and an Emergency Road Service card. However, I still encourage carrying a spare if you can find one and find a reasonable way to carry it. That latter condition does not include the roof.
The reason for having one is that the ERS may not have a wheel and tire available to fit your coach, and if you have to buy one on the road you may not like the price and/or quality.

There are already mass produced spare tire carriers for your receiver hitch such as Hidden Hitch at Real Truck . I would not leave home without it. There are so many areas of the USA that do not have cell phone coverage. Having a spare allows a good samaritan to help change the tire.
