I purchased a air filter to replace the one in my truck,And it appears that the one in the T/V was the orginal.Anyway the new filter didn't have a dust cover on the bottom of the filter. My question is would the replacement filter be OK,and without the dust cover would this avoid the warranty? The orginal filter was a chrysler brand. The new filter is a Fram.

I haven't seen another brand with the extra filter yet. I've researched it to death, if you want a good filter for a decent price, pick up a NapaGold(Wix). My last Fram nearly got suck into my engine ,in about 3 weeks. It was because of the pleat design it had, instead of the air going thru, it was trying to suck all the pleats together, I knew something was wrong because my filter minder wasn't ever pulled over that far even with a year old filter in it.

I have been buying mine from Geno's Garage... They have all had the foam piece on the bottom..

only $12.95.....

I don't wait for the filter minder to tell me to replace it. I actually change mine every oild change, so every 30k miles I buy four air filters and two fuel filters from Genos and I am set for a while...

Geno's Garage if you love your Dodge. Usually best price on the right oil filters, fuel filters, and air filters. Diesel need 2 things to run...air and fuel. In my opinion it is not a good idea to save a few cents on those filters.

Fleetguard makes the filters for Mopar and Cummins. The Mopar comes with the foam added. The Cummins doesn't have the foam. I have always used the Cummins filters without the foam and I also have used Fram air filter. You will be just fine.

I use an Amsoil Nanofiber dry drop in filter......works great and increases airflow, without the oily mess of some other replacements.

Other than my very first oil change(purchased from Cummins) I have purchased all my filters from Geno's Garage. The three previous filters had a loosely woven material for a prefilter and had a light coat of oil on it. The filter I just installed about 1,800 miles ago has a foam prefilter. I believe the first filters were Fleetguards and the current one is Mopar but I may have that backwards. In any case I change my air filter every 4th oil change which has been about 20,000 miles. I am going to extend my oil changes out to 6,000 miles based on OA results and this will change my air filter at about 24,000 mile intervals. I will use this interval unless something tells me I need to change sooner.
