We have an Appaloosa Old Mare that we named Bacardi after the rum but the "car" part was part of her bloodline.
When she was born she was coal black with this beautiful white blanket over her hips so we just called her Fanny for short.
The year before we had a colt we named Cartier.
I spoke with a gal who said she'd name her next dog "Underfoot," 'cuz that's where the little beggar was always at.
I'm free of prostate cancer for 5 years now.
All men over age 50 should get an annual PSA blood test. Mine had a low reading, but the yearly jump was significant. The biopsy showed cancer just entering the aggressive stage. Dr. Hackenslash removed it.

Already have a black cat named that!
Lots of great suggestions...keep them coming. We'll let you know what we decide. Of course, once we get the little bugger, that will probably help in our decision too. We kinda like Bailey, but I still think of it as a boy's name, even though I know it can be used by girls too.
I just knew that this time would come...with all the dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, goats, and other pets that we've had....we've run out of names!!

Now, re. licking. That's just a canine thing. In the wild when the pups are ready to start on more solid food, when their mom or a mid-pack hierarchy female returns to the den after making a 'kill' and having a 'feed', the pups come up to her and lick her mouth asking for food.
It is also a signal, that the one licked is alpha to the one licking. When you want your dog to acknowledge that you are right, your word, your way is how it shall be, put out your hand and invite the dog to lick it.
