I am not sure that this is okay. If it is not forgive a newbie to the list. I am reasonable newbie to the site, but as we make our plans to go to Gulf Shores on May 30, do any of you have any suggestions about where to park with full hookup? We have a Jayco 33' and F250 Diesel. Sure would appreciate any info you all could share. Also any special stops along the way from Murfreesboro, Tennessee? Any suggestions on where to purchase diesel along the way. This will be our first really
long trip. So wish us luck.

Everyone is gifted, it just take some of us longer to open our packages.

I suggest Luxury R V or Anchors Aweigh
for your first trip.
P M me and I will explain why......the
two are VERY unlike each other

I also suggest stopping overnight at
Greenville AL at Sherling Lake.
Again, P M me for more info.

Don't know anything about Diesel

Thanks, Norm. Your suggestions are quite helpful. If any of you all are ever headed our way, maybe I can be just as helpful. I have already learned so much from this forum. You guys and goils are the greatest. Hope everyone has a great Memorial weekend, it's coming soon.

You're looking at about 9 to 10 hours of travel total. I'd make it in one day if it were I but everybody's different. Sherling Lake is a good suggestion if you're inclined to stop over on the way there. That'll put you pretty close so it'll be a short drive the next day.

There are 2 flying J's along I-65 that would be a good place to stop for fuel. One is in Birmingham and one is just south of Montgomery. I always use the truck islands because the RV islands are a bit small and usually backed up.

I'll second Norm's vote but for Anchors Aweigh. It is newer than Luxury, the spaces are bigger and it is easy to get in and out of. We stay there pretty much every weekend in the summer. Luxury is ok but I think it's only selling point is it's a 5 minute walk from there to the beach. Anchors Aweigh is 15 minutes north in Foley at the outlet malls. Like Norn said, two different places all together.

As far as stops, the space center is in Huntsville but that's a full day if you stop. You also have Rickwood Caverns north of Birmingham.

For diesel fuel, I get 10 MPG towing my 5ver. I can make Gulf Shores from Montgomery with a little fuel to spare. It's about 3 1/2 hours from here towing. You have plenty of fuel opportunities to choose from. There are easy places off the interstate north in Prattville and in Montgomery. Once you get off I-65 on the Gulf Shores parkway there is a Wal Mart in a few miles and truck stops further down at the intersection of I-10.

We'll be in Anchors Aweigh the weekend before you. If you want things to do, places to eat or have questions PM me.

Gulf Shores, Ala., also has one of the nicest RV friendly state parks in the country. Fully restored and improvements after the hurricane, I'm told.
