I guess I am a little confused. I put my request in to KOA but am confused as to how to work with Workamper to contact positions and etc. What is the best way to do so. I am also wanting to contact State and Federal parks in a few states. All information is greatly appreciated. Plan to retire summer of 2009 and start doing some work or volunteering.
Thanks to all

First of all, you should join Workcamper News and sign up for the daily hotline which comes via email.
You will get daily offerings of new jobs available. You will also get the bimonthly magazine.
As far as State and Federal jobs...I go on the internet to the area I like and visit their website. There is usually a volunteer link and go from there.

We have been workamping going on 4 years. We tried 3 KOAs with written agreements. Our experience has been that once you get to the campground the management has a completely different program in mind. Hours changed, duties changed and generally we found that they try to treat you like an indentured servant. No more KOAs for us. There are just to many nice campground owners and managers to put up with their nonsense.

We are on our 3rd year with KOA and we have become friends with the owners in each case. The owners have been the hardest working individuals in the campgrounds. The owners of KOA are not alot different than the owners of non-KOA campgrounds, some are good and some are bad...just like in the rest of the world. I don't think you can classify people by what the own, what they do for a living and many other often used measurers.

We just finished a month of workamping at the KOA in Hapers Ferry WV.
Great manager, park and working agreement. We had to leave on our trip bad to Alaska. Will go back next year for a long time.

All of my experience with KOA has been positive. They have always done as promised. Winter of 2009 may be a little to far out to be lining up now. This time next year would be better. IMO

We hook to the home and head down the road we want to travel. when we find a place we want to stay we stop and ask for work. We get to check out the campground and they get to see us. I get workamper and there are a lot work there, but our way works for us.
I was offered 2 jobs this week so for me finding work is not hard, that could change quick, real quick.
