Just about every town we drive into has a listing of local churches, usually on a billboard type sign somewhere (in case the campground doesn't have information available) but I don't think I've ever stayed at one that didn't.

Most of the campgrounds that I have stayed at had information on churches in their area. There are some that actually have services or areas destinated where campers can meet and have fellowship together. If you are interested in visiting a campground, call and ask if they have any information on churches in their area.

We usually drive the car around and find one on saturdays, then we know how long it takes us to get there on Sunday mornings.

Most campground offices will have a copy of the local yellow pages. That should provide some base information to you. On the chance that their yellow pages are really old, if the area has a daily newspaper, the Saturday newspaper should provide current information.

In addition to the other posts, we use churchangel.com to help find a church in the next area before we leave out. Otherwise, you can't beat a Google search.

I have met and worked with people over the years, although different in denomination from me, have invited me to attend their service-I find this a very nice gesture of friendship and community.I always tell a usher that I'am a visitor and not a member of their church and have always felt a warm welcome.

As a full time intinerant evangelist, I have a seen a lot of churches around this country.
One that stands out wasa church that had a keep out sign and locked gates at the parking lot enterance during the week. I took the sign and gates as a warning that this was an unfriendly place.
I read the bill board, or church sign carefully. You never know what you may find inside, especially with a denomination that you may not recognize.
All in all my experience has been positive. I have found churches that are full of life as well as dead ones.
