Hi all, I'm new to this site and am in need of assistance. the problem I'm having is after I start my MH and push on the brakes they go almost to the floor. Ive tried to pump them up and they won't. Have found no leaks in the brake system. Ive checked the fluid for the hydro power booster its low but has some fluid in it (still shows on the stick) My first question is what type of fluid to use (all the cap said is use recommended fluid) and my 2nd question. would it be the booster or the master cylinder?
the booster runs off the power steering pump uses power steering fluid or dextron most of the time but sometimes not,did you check the brake master cylinder for fluid if its a p-30 its hidden behind the left front wheel or the front left side of the engine looking down at it .when's the last time the brakes were checked for wear, calipers freed up and brake system flushed to change out old fluid or air that might have got in.i have seen master cylinders almost go dry when there was no leaks just from sitting or not being checked.if its dry air might have got in the lines.calipers may be frozen and need freeing up,pads may be low and need changeing.

Hi Tom, Thanks for the reply, so what you're saying is the 1 reservoir supplies both power steering and brake booster also the brakes were checked maybe 1 month ago when I replaced the tires, no hanging or sticking calipers, pads have a lot of wear left on them, but I haven't checked the master cylinder yet (not to easy to get to)I'll be checking that today. Brake system has not been flushed sense I have owned the MH I've only owned it for about a year now.
edit; it is the p-30 with 4 wheel disk brakes

the tank is for power steering and the power steering supplys the brake booster with fluid and pressure to help stop the rv,check the master cyclinder to see how the fliud is in there and how clean or discolored it is,i did all mine last year all new rubber brake hoses, calipers and pads flushed it out, it was a job doing it in the driveway bleeding was a real pain, when i first got mine the master cyclinder was just about empty and not a leak anyplace, last person must not have checked anything in a long time.if your fluid is real low you may have some air in the system now.
Had a similar problem last year in Alaska, have an mechanic check the master cyclinder. My brakes went to the floor and I had to use the emergency brake to get stopped. Had the master cyclinder replaced and it's been fine since. Cost about $200.00. Good luck.
