First off, I don't have a motor home for sale and I'm not interested in buying one.

I have noticed a lot of threads about gas prices, dealers sales, companies going out of business, etc and got to wondering. Do any of you know anyone or have you actually sold a Class A that is 8 years old or less in the past few months?? I'm not talking about trade-ins on newer unit, just selling one outright.

I see a lot of motor homes along the side of the road with for sale signs and they seem to have been there a long time.

Many people made bad deals when they bought their MH's and are upside down on their loans. What do they do to sell the units?

I would imagine Class C's sell faster than A's and B's are somewhere in between.

Any thoughts on this?

When new sales are down it stands to reason used would be also. this would be especially true if new sales were down due to gasoline/diesel prices.

I have seen used units, reasonably priced, sell. Two of them that I have personal knowledge of. I know one that will not sell because it is priced at what the owner owes on it and that is much more than it is worth in today's market. He just does not realize that yet and probably never will be convinced of that fact.

skipnchar,

Yes, I fully understand and agree with you on this. No problem there.

I see a lot of threads and have talked to people and they say they are going to sell their units and quit RVing due to costs, health, etc. Given that it is a bad time to sell used Rv's, how well do they sell? Or, do they sell?

I was looking for this age RV last nearly 2 years ago. I found most were way overpriced by NADA by at least $20,000. I searched for >6 months and found the RV I'd been waiting for. The price was higher retail on NADA, but was well maintained, had lots of extras that were important to me (back up camera, levelers, front fans, all window awnings, etc). I did get him to knock off a couple grand, but it was still not low retail. I knew (and he knew) that there were no other units like this available for even close to that price. I bought it.

I still see rigs like mine way overpriced. So, I agree with the others: if the price is right, it will sell. It's a buyer's market. I see lots for sale in my area, likely due to gas prices.

We sold our 2000 Country Coach Intrigue last month for low book. The coach should have brought 5 to 10 thousand more but it had been for sale for three months and I was tired of the calls from low ballers trying to take advantage of the current state of affairs in the RV market. One guy kept calling with "I want to steal your coach" offers and the last time he called he thought I was kidding when I told him the coach was sold. This guy was mad that I sold the coach without calling him first. We had no such agreement and I had told him my low price several times. I also told him that the next coach he found that he liked would also be gone if he didn't pony up and offer a fair price to begin with. The last thing he said was "but man you knew I wanted that motorhome." I sure feel bad.

My son and family just bought a house, moved in two weeks ago tomorrow. It took less than one week from acceptance to move in. The seller had to come down $8,000 in price and the real estate broker and agent had to take another 2,000 off their fees. Now the kids get to make the over $2000/month payments!!
