I just returned from a 10 day tour of Fl./Ga. State Pks. Favor-Dykes, Silver River in Fl. Magnola Springs, Mistletoe & Gen.Coffee in Ga.
In every park, Everyday, bus loads of school kids are spending valuable 'CLASSROOM' time running round in the parks all day. When I got home...turned on the TV...yep, a news report of all the fun kids are having at the park. It wouldn't be TOO bad if it were just an end of school year thing, but it seems like it goes on all year! Its no wonder everyone is constantly complaining that the kids can't read.
BTW...who is paying for that VERY expensive diesel fuel for all those school buses to take all those kids WAY OUT to the woods?
BTW...Am I still paying those teachers when the kids are playing in the woods or is money no object when it comes to kids?

You never had a field trip? I'll happily pay a days worth of my tax dollars for kids to get a day at the park..some kids never get anything like that and it's not like teachers are getting rich working for the school system...so I'll gladly give them that day also.
Oh and you don't really think that your 'camping fee' for a state park is covering the full cost of running and maintaining the campground do you....I believe tax dollars are being used so you can enjoy camping in the woods.

Field trips can be tougher on teachers than the classroom.

We pay for those field trips, and my son has only had 1 this year. A very educational one. He went to the Hunter museum. Most of the field trips are EDUCATIONAL! I would think you had 1 or 2 when you were in school.

Dang, I didn't realize the parks were only for RVers and their kids.
Guess field trips at the end of a school year can't be relaxing and fun.

It's the end of the school year. I don't know about Florida, but in our schools kids rarely go on field trips during the instructional part of the school year. They might, occasionally, do an educational field trip, but they are few and far between.
Here during the last two weeks of school, after state-mandated tests are over, the kids get to have some fun activities. Even when they are at play they are learning so much about teamwork, problem solving and fair play. They've worked hard all year - they deserve it. For many of them, their summer will not be the free play they get at a park like this. It may be their only chance.
And I agree with traxtermax...field trips are much harder on the teachers than a regular classroom day.

The OP is too funny!! I can't wait to get old and cranky and live in FLA. I guess I'll complain then about the things I got to do while going to school while watching young ones doing the same thing.
Field trips are great for kids. They do help them in the class room by giving them a real world look at the things they are learning from books.
