We're getting a new TT and trading in the old one. The last time we did this the dealer wanted our old trailer in his possession before writing up the bill of sale. The credit union wanted the bill of sale before they would write a check. The dealer wouldn't release the new TT until they had the check. Unfortunately the credit union, upon receiving the bill of sale, mailed the check. We ended up going home for a few days with no TT at all until the check arrived.
We're going to be doing this again in a week or two and wondering how this could be better coordinated so that we can tow our new trailer home the same day that we turn over our trade in.
I'm sure there are better ways to coordinate this.

We use the KISS Principal..
First we sell our current unit ourselves (we always get more for it that way)
Then we go buy the the new one.. It is easier getting a fair deal when there is no trade in involved.
We do this with cars as well.

We traded in our PUP for more than NADA (sight unseen). Probably paid more for our new TT. Whatever, we were happy that we didn't have to go thru the trouble of selling it ourselves.

Unfortunately this is not uncommon when you use an outside place to finance. Happens with cars, too. The dealer and the credit union are going to protect their interests. Last time we had that problem we went through the hoops at the dealer to get dealer financing making sure there was no prepay penalty (there usually isn't). We took the car--not TT in this instance--home, immediately went to the credit union and had them send the check. And the dealer is certainly gong to want your trade-in before completing the deal.
Or if you have enough savings to temporarily draw on, put enough in your checking account to cover the sale, then go the credit union and replenish your savings account with their check.

We do the same.
If your still going to trade it's better to get a price on a new TT first before you even say your going to do a trade. This also keeps it simple. They will ask - do you have a trade. Our answer is usually "it shouldn't matter if we have a trade or not. We deal on out the door price. If they won't deal that way then we walk and go elsewhere.
This is an article regarding cars - but it is true for RV's as well. Though long, it's well worth a read and will help you to recognize sales tactics and the like making it much easier to seal the deal or walk away: Confessions of a car salesman
But...answer to your question - if you do what you did before you will have hoops to jump through like before. Kinda no way to get around it since they all want something before they'll let go of the check or trailer.

When I traded in my PUP for the HTT, old loan and new loan were from the same bank so no prob. I did bring my PUP in for a looking over before the final deal.

Thanks all, we may end up taking the suggestion to finance with the dealer just to get it off the lot, then see if we can work out a deal with our credit union.

I've bought a lot of new vehicles and have never put up with the sales games at car dealers...never.When we bought our new TT in January the dealer gave us a price with trade over the phone that was great,we went to the dealer 2 hrs. away and looked at trailer we had found there online and talked to dealer, struck a deal, took another 1000.00+ off,(still had not seen our trade yet)Made arrangements to bring our old TT there the next saturday,we did and they had our new one ready, did our walk through and went over everything, spent the day or as much time as we wanted and dealer was fantastic, signed the papers and took it home that day.I know dealers have to protect themselves, but there are ways to do things that are a lot more convenient especially if they really want your business.
