I just read in interesting comment on another thread. We're going to store our 5th on a seasonal instead of our storage lot this season.
It seems that just about everyone leaves the fridge on all the time in a seasonal. I read that you can leave the fridge on 'Auto' with the propane on so that if the electricity goes off the fridge will switch over to propane. Do most folks do this in a seasonal site while you are not at the campground or do you close your propane tanks?

Eric, if you are planning to use the RV while it is on the seasonal site, that will work. As for the cost of electric, if it is only the fridge running, useage will be really low. If you don't plan to use it, there is really no reason to run it. By the way, I filled a 30# propane yesterday at Costco in Candiac for less than $15.00. It's great to be back.

Not metered where we're going, it part of the $1,000 seasonal rate. I guess it would be different in the hotter regions where people would be running their ac's all the time.

We haven't been to that Costco yet but it looks huge driving by; is it the same as the others? We usually go to the one on Taschereau in Brossard.
Leave the refrigerator and gas ON. It beats having to buy foods - and throw out foods - based only on your inexpensive utility useage. Besides, the refrigerators take so long to get back to temperature. Most people do the shopping before they arrive, and it's good to have a cold fridge to put it away. If the power goes out, you'll have no surprises.
Eric, It's about the same except they don't have the traffic that Brossard has...Yet. The Brossard store offers a bit more for example the Brossard store has live lobsters now Candiac does not. But I am really happy to have a Costco and a Tim's within 5K of Camping St Andre. An easy bike ride to either store.
We left the fridge on, but shut the gas off. There is nothing perishable left in the fridge, so if the power goes out, we're okay. But having a cold fridge ready when we arrive is great. We may consider leaving the gas on if there are lots of storms expected. The CG is rural & the power goes out often.

Personally I can see no reason for leaving the gas on. If there is no one there to open the fridge, it will stay cold for at least 6 hours, more than enough time for the electric to start working again, if it goes out.
