I'm having trouble finding a Class A gas on the east coast. I have been doing a lot of Internet searching but haven't found anything. There seems to be a lot of MH's in the West and MidWest but not much in the Northeast.
This being said, we are fairly specific on what we're looking for. 30-33ft, Year 2000 or newer, mileage under 30K, large couch/dinette slide 36" deep. There are quite a few that I've seen with the 18" or 20" deep slides but we want a 30-36" deep one to give more interior living space.
We also need a pull out sleeper sofa as opposed to a jackknife couch since we need to sleep two boys on it and one on the dinette. The DW also insists on a good sized wardrobe of some sort. This also seems to be an issue because some of the 30' or 31' models don't always have a wardrobe. We want to be below $40,000 and I've seen quite a few in the West but now so many here on the Eastcoast.
I figured that with everybody trying to get out of their MH's because of high gas prices it would be easy to find but I haven't had any luck yet.
Am I missing something or maybe I'm looking in the wrong areas? Does anyone have any advice or know of any good dealers, websites, consigment/invdividual sales sites or whatever so that I can find the type of MH that I want?
Thanks for any help.

Forgetting the price point...first off was anything ever MADE that fit your parameters? If it was never made and sold new...you're not about to find it USED..for any amount $$.
Go thru prochures..and various websites and find a brand and model that fits those ideas...and then keep hunting and find some "alternatives"..and then contact a LARGE dealer such as Lazy Days in FL.
From the short description you give...Id say your "up the creek" as far as ever finding anything such as that..especially for the amount you state ( $40,000 )
2000 Country Coach Allure; Cummins ISC 330 HP; 71/2 - 8 MPG regardless
2002 Jeep Liberty
You might have to do some compromising. On the mileage, average use of motorhomes is 5k a year, so in 9 years you are at 45k for most used units. I started with a 1999 35' Southwind and had all good experiences with it. Here is an example at the dealer I bought it from. Have fun.
If what you are looking for is on the West coast is there a reason you can not make the deal with photos via email then travel to pick it up. I bought my toad in Chicago over the internet and flew up to get it. It was all rigged for towing and the color matched the MH. So it was worth the $99.00 plane ticket to pick it up.

I could do that but I was hoping that I could see and test drive the MH. I would feel much more comfortable doing that. I'm willing to travel to look at the unit so that's not the problem but would think that there would be something somewhat close by.

I'd say it likely will be a bit hard to find smaller, lighter class A's because people will be trying to find them "considering fuel costs."
Why available in the west and not in the east, I'm not sure.
Maybe you can get your choice(s) narrowed down to specific vehicles? Attempt to sort out which one(s) you'd like. Maybe you'll have better luck.
Consider what type (manufacturer) engine gas. How many slides if any? Floorplan? Any specific features...etc.
Why limit yourself to gas? I know you didn't ask, and diesel fuel might be more expensive, but, we are getting much better mileage, not to mention power. It might open up more "interesting" opportunities. and anytime you start getting in to the larger slides, you actually are starting to move away from gas units. As the slide weight goes up, the chassis has to be stronger all things equal. There are some really nifty Safari's out there! I'm simply suggesting NOT ruling out diesels in view of you and your wife's specifications. (large slides, larger rear wardrobe, etc.)
- I'd just "GOOGLE" a model you and your wife like. Then all sorts of search sites will come up you can start exploring.
- You can search right here for vehicles.
- You can also "do a search here for RV sale sites.
- You can check "lazy dayz" (sp?) site
- Maybe stop worrying about where the vehicle is located. A motivated seller may simply drive it to your door. My neighbor bought a Bounder in NY and they drove it to his door here in Tennessee.
- I'd bet if you post specific vehicle choices here, someone will pop in here and tell you where to find it.
