I've always hitched up by myself. Its gotten to the point that if there is somebody around that offers to help I say "no thanks". After years of doing it myself a helper tends to confuse things.

Just practice, take it slow and don't be shy about getting out and checking as many times as necessary.

We have a very inexpensive back up camera attached to the license plate. I have tool bins on the back of my truck that obscure my view. I always hook up while DW is at work so we can leave as soon as she gets home. I purchased the camera on ebay and installed it myself. It really works well.

Hi - I put a piece of duck tape smack dab in the middle of my tailgate and back it up to where the light is centered over the propane tanks. Works every time. But practice is the thing. Good luck.

Get the convex backup mirror from Camping World. You put it on the truck gate and angle it so you see the hitch and you can watch as the ball backs under the coupler.
My previous TV was a hatchback SUV, with that I would open the gate and watch the center floor of the SUV doorway as I backed in near the TT.

I have a mirror I put on the TT and then watch in the rear view mirror to hook up.

Camping World sells "The Hitching Posts", about $20. Makes it foolproof and works 1st try everytime! Now the wife doesn't have to go with whenever I pick up travel trailer at the storage lot!

I have pulled trailers for years & still have a little trouble. I went to walmart & bought one of those $90.00 backup camera setups. Wow talk about handy!

Ive discovered something similar last time i hooked up...if i drop the tailgate on the truck, i can center the jack btwn the screws for the handle...just need to figure proper distance...

Practice & patience are the key. Like many of you, I am so used to going it alone, people that offer 'help' generally mess me up. The trouble was, I took my time and got out to look a few times and people take that as a sign of me needing help.

When I got the Hensley, I got a tounge twister and a back up camera. I do it with ease now.

I normally just do as 1st poster said, center trailer in mirrors, back up, do a check and back up some more, usually get it on second try.
When DW is there I back up to within a foot or two and she just follows my hand signals for the final shot, shes normally right on target.

The longer we're on a trip the better it gets, kind like love'n.
