How can this hurt anything?
Its not like you are denying chemo to a cancer patient!
I love my chiropractor he has helped me in more ways than drugs could ever of done ( I had car accident that left me with them saying we have done all that we can do) other than to give me drugs that left me in very bad shape. anything they do is not going to be life threatening and if the outcome is better, than I say. Thank goodness. I hope this is what you have been looking for

I think I would have checked with my local massage therapist first.

Hey, I have an awesome massage therapist that works wonders on my carpel tunnel!!!!(now I didn't say it doesn't hurt like the dickens when she works on it , but in the long run I've avoided having surgery/pain for almost 6 yrs!)B

I don't think you're hurting your son by trying the chiro before committing to surgery. Give it a couple of months, if it doesn't help, ask the chiro for a recommendation to an ortho.
I've seen both sides of a chiro.
Took a gf to her's when she couldn't stand up straight, cried at every bump in the road. She walked out 45 mins later, straight as an arrow, no pain.
Went to a local chiro after a minor fender bender that I had seen several times. I was in so much pain the next day that all I could do was lay in bed and cry. Pain pills couldn't touch it. I went back the next day and told him to undo whatever he did, wouldn't let the massage therapist within 20 ft of me.

Look up their required education. It's very similar.

I don't think I would be able to walk today, if it wasn't for chiro's. I hurt my back back in the 70's and doctor said I HAD to have surgery, but he wasn't sure it would do any good. I was a single mom and surgery meant, we didn't eat. I went to the chiro and walked out of the office straight as could be.
I went one time, when I was bent over and had to get in the car, with my head in the seat and my rump up towards the front window. Yep, walked out of the office like a normal person. Although I got a lot of laughs riding in the car like that.
Good luck, I hope that it helps your son as much as it has helped me!

I think using the chiropractor is a great idea if the adjustments work. If they ease discomfort et al, it also can get him past his growth stage in case surgery is needed down the road. If it's not - all the better.
