Find a floor plan that works for you buy a quality rig that will work for a full timer rig, and make it your own. The vinyl luan can be painted or wall papered, and you can do it as easily as in your home. Our rig looked like everyone else's and we wanted to warm it up some.

After:

Change the floor, the walls, the window coverings, and if you really hate the natural wood, lightly sand it, primer it, then paint it! Click on my sig for more ideas.

You might want to take a look at Colonial Airstream's website. They have hundreds of pictures of the interiors of different models of Airstreams, and there are several different interior styles of decorations, other than the one you have shown.

Airstreams may seem pricey, but you generally don't pay list price, and there are many used Airstreams for sale because people trade for a larger, smaller or different model Airstream. We kept one 2007 for only three months before we traded for a slightly larger 2007.

Another thing..if you order your TT it may be possible to have it constructed without the wallpaper border. We asked Jayco to leave it off on our new TT and it was no problem! The walls are still beige but at least I don't have the border to deal with.

You can take the doors for the cabinets and have a carpenter make new doors for you or you can make them yourself. You could also walllpaper and do without the borders or come up with borders that you like more. If you go to some of the wallpaper stores you find that they do make funky borders, just most people do not want them
I just finished making new curtains, not that anything was wrong with the ones we had, I just wanted something different. And there was something wrong with the old ones, they were too skimpy.

I am so glad to see this topic being discussed! My thoughts exactly!
On a similar vein, I have purchased a used travel trailer that has a good floorplan with lots of living space and has lots of windows for its size. Like all of you, I tire of the wood and don't understand the appeal to these patterns, color schemes, and borders!
I saw other travel trailers with white/cream cabinets (some of the Surveyor and Flagstaff models; I expect there are others) and I love how bright and clean it makes the living space look. My trailer has walls that are quite light, so I think painting the cabinets will make it look quite sleek.
I am going to remove the side curtains that they put on the windows (visual clutter!) and also replace the curtain to the bedroom either with one of those accordian type folding doors or a light colored curtain. I also have purchased a new, comfortable mattress and am going to do up the bed in a cozy duvet with lots of pillows. Solid color, no patterns!
I am lucky enough to have white vinyl flooring throughout, except for some dark blue indoor/outdoor type carpet just around the bed (I can't imagine who thought this was a good idea). At a minimum, I will clean it well and maybe put down a nice runner carpet just to hide it.
I agree. Do what you can to make it your own sleek, cool space.
Good luck!

I stand corrected! Alpen, did you do any special priming for the walls? What kind of paint?

Joy, it can be done, just need a really good primer to paint.

In my inlaws Class A, the fabric on the cornices/valance was dry rotting. Me being brave, pretty much think oh if my idea doesn't work we can try something else. I had thought I would just reupholster the them, then thought why it's just gonna dry rot again. So I took all the fabric, foam etc off and then I just decopaged paper over the form.
( because once you take the fabric off you will find a plastic/presswood form) Wouldn't have worked to just paint, so I decopaged them and then painted to match the rest of the decor in the Rv. They had the rv for a few more years after I did it, it was so easy to wipe down and it looked a heck alot better than the fabric. The project came out so good, a friend who has one of those $500,000,00 rigs wanted me to try it on her's............ She hated to fact that the fabric was dusty despite cleaning on a regular basis. I was afraid to screw her's up, so suggested she have them reupholster in leather or similar fabric that was wipeable. That's what she did. Easier to care for and you know it's not holding the dust in. Bella

Joy, I lightly sanded the vinyl to break the gloss, them primered with KILZ. The paint I used was Ralph Lauren "Suede" finish. While it is holding up well and has never peeled or flaked off, in retrospect I would have used an eggshell or semi gloss finish for easy clean up. The suede paint is a flat finish and not "family friendly", but since it is just DW and I, it works out fine. Click on Here for more pictures of what can be done. Good luck!
