Some units with 50a service are set up for a second AC unit. If you have 30a service you have to have an (energy management system). This system will not allow the second unit to start at the same time as the first. I got a second AC installed in the bedroom at CW a couple of years ago for $550. They had a special going On in the middle of the summer.

Oh ok Pritch, I thought you were referring to a portable model. I think if I was going to ad another roof unit that would be the one. I don't blame you for going with the roof unit at all. That's a pretty nice unit. I was back and forth on which way to go. I knew I needed another unit being I was going to have to relocate to the Hot Zone (valley) to help my dad for a while so I thought about it carefully. Being I like to dry camp at times I realized I could use the Portable with my Honda 2000 if needed and my other stuff with no problem. Then there was the cost of $300 versus the around $800 plus for the roof mount and install. In my case with my bad shoulder I'd have to pay for the install and relocating the Fantastic fan and at around $100 per hour labor it would have zapped me pretty good lol. In yesterdays anticipated heat of 105 I was worried whether I had made the right choice or not. Well I guess it was ok as with it 105 out I was able to keep my 34' coach between 77 and 80. Almost a 30 degree drop! I learned a few tricks about alternate cooling techniques which was educational lol. With those tricks, today and tomorrow with another set of 105 days I should be able to hole 'er around 77 or 78.
I appreciate the info on that unit as if I ever decided to ad a roof unit I think I'd have to look closely at that one! My way was just an alternative method for those who didn't want nor could afford the roof mount. Mine was an experiment lol. Whew! I'm glad it paid off or I'd be one miserable firedude about now lol. I'm also glad it will work with my Honda 2000! I wouldn't go anywhere that hot dry camping, but if it got a bit warm I'd have the Amcor though.
