Correction, AC in my trailer draws 15amps. 15a x 120V = 1800W. Not 18 x 120.

1800 is running watts. Start up watts is what is generally the problem.
A 2000 Honda should run most 15k air conditioners but may not get them started.

Some of the generator sites have a handy checklist of items that you can add up to get the needed size.

What I don't think I saw mentioned above is the each a/c model has different specs, so YOUR a/c may or may not run on a small generator. Also, even more important than what it takes to run it is what it takes to START it; starting current will be momentarily very high. That info can only come from measurements by a technician or from the manufacturer. Be sure to enquire as to a "hard-start" kit to make starting easier.

Some people in small trailers run 5KBTU a/c from BigBoxStores rather than larger bulgemobile a/c's, so the answers may be different.

You will find that if you can keep the generator size down to the inverter-based models that run on eco-mode, they will be significantly quieter than the larger ones that have to maintain RPM to maintain 60Hz.

One of the commom setups to do what you are looking for is a pair of Honda EU2000I. They can be connected together to provide 4000 watts. If not using the Air Conditioner, you only need to run one. Even as a pair, the Eco mode lets them idle down if the load is small. They are lightweight enough to lift and move easily at less than 50 lbs with a tank of fuel each. Price at $860 each from Wise makes them even a bit less than a 3000w.

Now the best parallel kit for them is $255 but if you do a search, there are many here that have made their own for much less $$.
