I tow with my freshwater tanks full all the time. We do long weekends all summer long every summer. So far the tank hasn't fallen off or broken and I don't expect that it will.

When we do longer trips, we have no choice but to fill up where we can. Sometimes it is campground water, sometimes potable water from a dumpstation, rarely anywhere else. I always filter the water even from the hose at home.
