I agree. I wouldn't feel safe with mine in storage. It would be an absolute last resort.

I agree. I would never be comfortable with my rig in storage. I understand many have no alternative. I imagine if storage was my only choice I would not have a RV.

hey guys, locks and cables (chains)are great but they only keep honest people honest. one good pair of bolt cutters and your batteries or propanes bottles are gone. why waste your time and money locking them down. it's right up there with locking your trailer compartments that everyone who has a trailer can open it with their key.

Friends of our had theirs stolen WHILE CAMPING! Yup, right out of the CG. The thief put the cover back in-place too and went unnoticed until one of the pigtails dropped down! I lock mine up with a heavy braided cable lock, which isn't too easy to cut with just bolt cutter, but it's true it only keeps the honest folks honest.

Interesting thing I was told while camping last trip - seems some storage facilities are requiring trailer owners to remove their LP tanks and batteries as a condition of storage!

I guess its the sign of the times...did not think about the propane tanks but I have a good braided cable that I'm now going to run over there and put on. As far as the battery, I remove it and keep it in the garage - that way I can put a good charge on it before use.

>>stolen at the campground

Wow! While I'm not the most neighborly camper ... I do always try to get a good look at who's camping next to me ... so that if I see someone different messing around their campsite, I can step over to talk with them ... or notify the host.

>>chains

Well, I'm hoping that stealing propane bottles is more of a spur of the moment rather than some thief strolling up with bolt cutters, looking to steal my bottles.

And I, for one, pledge to holler good and loud if I see someone with bolt cutters removing the gas bottles on the next camper at the campground!

At least I feel I'm doing something preventive by chaining them up.

Well, me, too, but my rural subdivision does not allow RV's stored at homes ... not even in the back yard, if visable from road or another home.

I think a nice garage about 30'l x 12'w x 12'h would be a nice ''addition''. Imagine the cr@p that would start if you put in for a building permit?
