My TV (04 Ford F250 6.0 PS)got stolen and still not found. we have a Jayco 27BH G2 with a dry weight of 5k pounds. so , what are u using to pull yours? i am now in the market and i am debating on what to replace my TV with. Gasser vs Diesel, Old vs New, etc..
So some Questions:
1: what is tow vehicle
2: What is mileage empty and towing
3: how is maitenence on vehicle
4: Are you happy with rig
5: if u can switch TV, would you?
6: do you tow with full tank of water?
7: how does rig handle in mountains?
thanks in advance

First off...forget you ever heard of dry weight or unloaded vehicle weight, unlss you never plan to put any supplies in the trailer.
While you may never load the trailer to GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) use this number for finding a tow vehicle.
Most trailers when loaded will weight a fair amount over the UVW.
I can tell ou for a fact that once you have pulled with a diesel, you will notbe happy going back to a gasser. I tried and I decided to keep my diesel.

My Komfort Bunkhouse is about 8000-8750 lbs loaded for Kamping (You don't Camp in a Komfort, you KAMP!!!)
1. I haul it with a Dodge Ram Cummins 3/4 ton 4X4 with a Manual trans. It does great.
2. I get about 13.5 towing my Komfort, and around 20 on the highway empty.
3. I do all the maint, from oil, filter, fuel filters, air filters, and my buddy is a tranny tech, and he services all of my powertrain needs.
4. Love it.
5. Yeah, to a newer six speed cummins.
6. Tow with or without water, and the configuration of our Komfort makes a better tow with more water. It has a light tongue weight, which is helped by towing with the front water tank heavy.
7. Haven't seen a pass I couldn't climb! Really though, it does great. All of the diesels do. But if you ask me, the defining factor with the diesels is that the manuals just pull better. Sucks in rush hour, but once you hook them to the trailers, they are in their element.
Good luck choosing.

I have a Terry 27H which is probably the same TT weight wise and size wise. I pull it with a 2000 Excursion with the V-10. I get around 7-10 towing and around 15-16 solo. It is the best tow vehicle I have every had. I did have a Suburban and it does not compare to the Ex. I know they do not make them any more, but if you could find a good 2004 or earlier I do not think you would be disappointed. You can find them gas or diesel, but with the price of diesel fuel now days you would probably be better off with the gas model. I have had it in the mountains and it does a supurb job. Good Luck in your search.

We had an '05 Jayflight 27BH...loved it until DW found current TT last year.
We pulled it with '05 F150, 4.6L v-8, Auto trans, 3.73 rear with factory tow package..was very anemic but never gave up. The 5.4 V8 and 3.73 in the F150 would be minimum for your TT.

We tow our trailer most of the time with our expedition as seen below. I also have towed my trailer with a 05 ford f250 6.0l psd and right now I am using a 07 dodge 2500 cumins. I can't wait to get my trailer behind a new ford f350 6.4l psd. In my opinion the ford did a way better job of towing than the dodge but both do beat the expedition for towing hands down. DIESEL all the way.

I pull my 27BH with the truck in my sig, a 2002 F250 CC 5.4l gasser.
Adequate on the flats, struggles in the hills.
We went to Colorado last summer and I spent way too much time in second gear for my comfort level. Good stable platform, but underpowered in the hills.
