I got in touch with Duro Tires today.Their warranty for Dry Rot is for four years against defects. I had to email them pictures along with other info about when the trailer was purchased. They are going to refund 50% of the purchase price for a new set of tires. Better than nothing. I will put the money towards Goodyear or another well known name.
Thanks for all of your info.

Wow, I'd have expected them to dance real fast, and send nothing. Good for you!

Those Duros I believe are bias ply. You should get better wear with balanced radials. As long as the wear was even, just replace them.

Here's the latest. I have to send them a check for 50% of the value of each of the Duro tires then they will ship me 4 new tires and have to get them mounted myself. That is $225 i will have to send them for junk. No thanks.

Mike,
I'm glad you posted a follow up. Checked my Duros recently, and since it's the start of our third year, yep, you guessed it - sizeable cracking all around the tire at the treadline and on the sidewalls. I had seen some posts here and there about getting compensation from Duro, but yours is the first follow-up post I've seen that shows how it works. (Could be they used to issue a check but have had to stop that due to too many claims.)
Regardless, you just helped me make a decision. I'm not even going to try with Duro. I'll start shopping for Maxxis.

I have the Duro's as well, all sidewalls are cracked (except spare). Dumping them like a rock before I leave Friday. Still not sure what I'm getting. Any opinions of metric P tires vs ST?

If you are interested in purchasing Maxxis Tires over the internet, send me a PM. One thing I would ask you to do is confirm the psi rating of your rims if you want to go up in load rating. You don't want to get tires that you can't get maximum benefit simply because the wheels won't take the needed psi.
I had Maxxis tires on my 2002 TT. They gave me great service through the time I sold the trailer. The tires were 6 years old at that time. I am putting Maxxis Tires on my current trailer very soon.
I would strongly recommend not putting P tires on a trailer. Their side walls are not designed for trailer use, and a number of people have had very bad results. You may want to do a search on this forum to see what others have to say about using a P tire on a TT.

There are several web sites which list the manufacturing plants for the different DOT tire codes. Is there any reason why some codes start with a letter and some with a number? I have seen china made tires with both code formats (e.g.. AQ = MEIYAN TIRE CO, 5Y = TIANJIN WANDA TYRE GROUP CO). Does having a letter first indicate an older, more established manufacturer? Just curious.

Just a follow up on my situation.
I just called on Friday and ordered a set of 4 Maxxis M8008's from SelectTire.com They were $52 ea. in 205/75R14, plus another $62 to ship them all to my door. So, $67.50 per tire, or $270 total.
These are load range C for their size, 1,760 lbs. per tire at 50psi. (Exact replacement for the rating on my current tires.)
Their website says they're out of stock, but call them and they have plenty. Apparently their IT guys aren't keeping the database synched very well.
I'm going to keep the unused Duro on the spare for now.
