John, You will be in for a real surprise then. My 34CKTS had an advertised "dry" pin weight of 1,750 pounds. On the scales ready to camp it is actually 3,000 pounds. That is on a fiver with a GVWR of 13,500 pounds. The one you are looking at is heavier yet.

John, please believe me, I am not trying to start an argument here, just trying to save you the same mistakes I made. That trailer is way heavier on the pin that you believe and throwing parts at a marginal truck is not a prudent way of going about this. But in the end it is your decision and your money. So get an EB.

John, I just installed myself a PacBrake on my 07 2500 auto. It wasn't as difficult as I thought that it was going to be. Haven't towed with it yet but that is going to change this weekend. Bought mine at Diesel Truck Resource best price around. John

Even if you never venture out West, the exhaust brake is worth it IMO.

I can start downshifting my truck when coming to a stop, and only have to use the trucks service brakes for the last bit of braking.

Coming down through the passes of Washington is a piece of cake. Let off the throttle and it keeps a nice steady speed all the way down.

I have the Pacbrake PRXB on my '07.

I have the Pacbrake PRXB on my 06' 6spd manual. Recently did a 5hr drive through lots of twists and turns at 19.2k gross. I tapped my brakes one time. The Pacbrake on the 3rd Gen Dodge comes with an air compressor. Bought mine from Rip at www.sourceautomotive.biz I also did Pacbrake Airbags. No drilling involved.

The way I looked at it was: If the truck broke down going UP a hill, it was a nuisance. If the brakes broke coming DOWN, it ws life threatening. There is alot to be said for peace of mind - but only you can be that judge.

Just be sure to enjoy the journey - whatever the decision.
