Menominee Falls Wi gas is $4.00 a gallon

Remember a while back all the threads on:
"what will you do if gas hits $4.00 a gallon"?

Are we all going to pack up our toys and go home?

Not me.

All my toys are already home, and new fuel conservation steps have been implemented. The motorhome is used for shorter trips, the boat now cruises at 35 mph instead of 60, the Blazer and the Caddy don't move very much, BUT fortunately the little tractor and tiller do not burn very much gas. And, our new base is centrally located, with respect to all the places we go to.
Oh yeah, whenever the grandkids visit, they "camp" in the backyard....

Diesel in our town is $4.59. I filled up two or three days ago for $4.11 at the local WalMart. Their credit card gives 3 cents off per gallon. Due to high cost of diesel we're going to combine our summer trip to Colorado with taking our TT to our RV park in Arizona where we can store it for $35 per month. Then, in the winter, we'll drive out in our mini-van and will get almost double the mpg. Even with motels and restaurants it will be less expensive than towing back & forth.

Slower speeds, longer stays and shorter trips... There is so much to see close by that I think we will not run out of places to go that are 4 - 5 hour drives for us.

Slowing down and NOT running the Genny while driving is helping.

Besides... Slow and steady = more stuff to see!!!

My $.02 worth...

Diesel was $4.79 in some stations yesterday. I am afraid to go out this morning.

How do you manage those steep grades while pedaling?

Regular here is still hanging around $3.569. When in doubt, a costco card is your friend when all the other stations in town are $0.20 a gallon more.
