Can't remember where I read it, but someone suggested that everyone boycott the same oil company. Would be interesting to see what would happen if Exxon's gasoline sales plummeted overnight to almost nothing.

My diesel jumped from 4.31 to $4.67 in 3 days and they didn't even get a new load.

In the world of oil, there is no such thing as supply and demand. There is just speculation and greed.

You know that IS how things got changed years ago. People just don't care anymore and feel they can't do anything.

If everyone across the US did a 'gas out' for 2 days you betcha that would perk up some heads at the upper level.

AND not getting gas for 2 days is not going to put anyone in dire straights, but it sure would play he11 with the crude oil stocks.

I agree but it cracks me up. How often do you hear that you should only buy American, boycott foreign countries, boycott "X" company because of their religious or political views.

But when it comes to the oil companies, "oh poor guys, they have a right to make as much as they want", "what good will boycotting do", "if you have a mutual fund it is probably vested in oil and energy".

B.S., put your foot down and stop buying their product until they do something about it. I pulled out of all my mutual funds. I won't have their blood on my hands.

If it continues, what does that say for those who let it happen? Really, just one day, or even one hour just to let them know. No one has even suggested a barrage of emails or letters to your congressmen and oil companies. Who's in control? JMHO

The only thing is, people dont know when to boycott. You need everyone to not buy gas for one 2 day period every month. Then you will get there attention. But they most likely would cut production not lower prices. We need a national gas
out day and everybody needs to know about it. They tried to do it here but not enough people knew about it.I did hear the price of a gallon could be as high as 10 dollars in 2 years. I couldnt even get enough to get to work anymore.

2 days. Did last Saturday and Sunday count for me? I didn't drive anywhere this weekend (But I did mow the lawn!)
I am now telecommuting 1 day week now (the boss finally approved!) Trying for 2 days/week. It would be interesting to see what would happen if we simply as a country did not drive for a few days. These goofy boycotts are laughed at by Big Oil, but NOT DRIVING AT ALL might catch the attention to the FUTURES TRADERS! I wish they'd start investing in BROCHOLLI. I can do without it.

Holy man, how long until it's $5 a gallon?

Already is in some places.

I paid the equivalent of $5.49 a gallon for diesel in Fort Nelson, Canada about 3 weeks ago.

The "law of supply and demand" that we all learned in econ 1A seems to have expired! Or maybe it just isn't high enough yet to really hurt people.

Anyway, RRUG in Michigan has the right idea - set-up the rv someplace you like to go (the closer to home the better) and folks you enjoy being around, build a cover over it and drive the car back and forth. That's what we did, and we are actually having more fun camping on the weekends than we did travelling. We can hardly wait for Fridays! The only problem is it's all about eating!!! :-)

Except for the wealthiest rv'ers with the big paid-for Monacos, we are all going to have to adapt in our own way. My retired neighbor has taken a part-time job and putting the money in a special fund just for fuel to tow his fiver this summer.

My other hobby, gardening, is a problem too - I farm a couple acres and give-away the veggies at church. This year, diesel for my tractor has been TWICE the cost of fertilizer, chemicals and seed combined!! Major lifestyle changes are not easy, but I'm afraid that's what were looking at. The "Age of Petroleum" is fading into history, bit by painful bit. History teaches us that some will adapt and survive and others will fall by the roadside. So where can I buy a mule with harness and plow? :-)

Jack
