This is the harness I am getting. From what I understand it will be a plug and play install on my 2005 F150 FX4.

This is the controller....

I notice this controller does not have the sliding lever like most do. I am assuming this thing is totally automatic. That sure makes things easy. Especially for a Newbie to towing trailers. What do you guys think?

Actually it does have a sliding lever. It is underneath. You might have miss read the ad. "With Prodigy no manual level adjustment is necessary.

I have used a Prodigy for over 5K mi towing different trailers. It's a great brake controller. I have heard the P3 is the same with more diagnostics built in.

Yep, just plug and play on my 2000 F150.

If you have the trailer package on your truck already, it should be a simple plug-in. I'm not sure how the 2005 FX4 come. On mine I also had to add the brake fuse under the hood, the fuse came with the truck, I just had to plug it in under the hood, yours probably already has that fuse plugged in.

Great controller. It is a plug and play deal on your truck. It will take you all of 15 min to install. I have had no problems with mine in over 5000 miles and love the way it operates. Enjoy!

If your truck came with trailer tow package as mine did you can find the truck end of that connector just under the left dash. I remember installing a relay as well, I believe that is for the battery charge line. I'll look at the paperwork in the AM and repost. In my 05 the relay and pigtail came in the glove box from the factory. I added an extra ground to the battery this year because of weak brakes, that made a ton of difference in braking power. Before the ground I was near maximum power on my controller, and not getting great stops. Now it stops great.
