Has anyone had any problems with the tub surround leaking on their units? We dont think there is a crack, we were wondering if it may be leaking in between the glass and the rubber seal that surrounds it, We tried caulking all around the bottom where the actual door frame sits on the tub and it still leaks, there is evidence that it is getting under the metal framing and we werent sure whether you could actually caulk around the entire rubber seal that the glass sits in or not.I remember reading somewhere that they said not to caulk certain areas in the enclosure, but we dont know what else to do. It leaks enough that it runs onto the floor in a fairly good puddle and I want to get it corrected before we run into other problems..any advice is appreciated.
I had similar problem with my shower in my class c ,what I found is that the hinges where the glass door is the screws are not sealed. I had to take apart the door and door hinge to get behind it and seal from top to bottom. this fixed my problem...LOL
Do you have a corner shower unit with glass on three sides?? I think it's called neoangle... has the door on a 45degree angle??
If so PM me, I had this problem for a couple of years, finally fixed it. Had to basically remove and reinstall the shower door system.. .I always thought the leak was the door panels, but it was actually the white plastic surround...
If this is the type of shower you are talking about, pop me a note, I can tell you more of what I found and get you some photos..
OK, got a couple of PM's on this, so here is my story and pictures of my shower and how I finally fixed it...
First here is a picture of the shower, so you can compare and see if it matches yours... The red arrow points to the area between the cabinet and the shower , which is where I always saw the water. I could also see some seeping in underneath the pan if I removed the access cover, but it seemed to go there, not come from there.
This picture shows the detail between the cabinet and shower. the blue line is where I always saw the water and the red is where I suspected the leak was coming from...
What myself and the RV dealer tried on 3-5 separate appempts to fix it from the outside.
orange lines indicate some of the various places we tried to caulk, both inside and out. Actually removed the side panel of the vanity to be able to get to it to caulk it.
I also tried drilling weep holes in the frame so the water coming in (in my mind through the panels or frame) would leak back into the shower pan. Didn't work and the next time the dealer took a stab at it, they caulked over them...
I even moved the bracket where the shower wand was mounted... to try and keep water out of the bad corner..
from the right hand side as you looked in.
to the center, which helped some, depending upon who was showering, but also made the shower much nicer to use...
None of this completely solved it, so I did what I felt needed to be done all along. Removed and reinstalled the glass surround. Always thought it had been installed improperly... What I found is that it was the white surround that was the root cause, not the glass surround...
In this photo you can see red lines. This is where I generously caulked behind the wall panel to seal where the wall panel overlapped with the floor pan..
The water was going into the crack between the two and up and over the corner... The wall piece was held in place by these plastic friction type rivets... I was able to gently pry the surround from the wall and seal behind it.. I then reinstalled the surround, caulking behind and under it.
Had to be careful removing the panels and the surround, but it can be done.
