We have been investigating about bringing a Motorhome into Alberta Canada from Arizona. Does anyone have suggestions or warnings about how to make this hopefully a fairly easy transaction. THANKS FOR ANY ADVISE!

Here is a post from awhile ago about someone importing a trailer into Canada. Don't know if it would work as easily with a motor home....

check this link: http://www.riv.ca/english/html/us_vehicle_admissibility.html

It has a list to tell you if your vehicle can be imported and information on how to do it.

From my experience, you need to get all your forms in order and fax them to the Canada Customs office you will be using at least 48 hours in advance - and call the office to ask where they are and to confirm they got your fax. You probably have to find out about exporting from the US as well, I don't know anything about that.

You will need to get the paperwork in their hands a full 72 hours before you get there. You will also need a letter from the manufacturer of the coach stating there are no recalls. This will need to go to the US side. Follow VintageRacer's advice! A phone call can go along way for well adviced help at the border. I am sending one through Montana this week......good luck!

You also need to be prepared to pay the GST on the cost of the MH. If you are in the States for a week, you have the maximum tax free allowance of $750.00.

& I, I took the road less travelled by.
