Hi guys, I am going to be renting a small travel trailer (17 ft) next month for four days. The rental company said I need a brake controller, class III hitch, and 7 Pin wiring harness in order to tow the trailer with my truck. The hitch and harness are no problem but I dont have a brake controller. Does anyone have any recommendations for an inexpensive controller or any other ideas that might be helpful? By the way, I have a 2006 Chevrolet 2500HD with the Duramax/Allison and the Heavy Duty Towing package. Any help would be much appreciated... if all goes well this trip could likely be the beginning of a new hobby

I really don't have a suggestion on a particular model, but you might check eBay and see what they've got online. You should be able to pick up one for a fairly good price.

You can get a GOOD one from RV Wholesalers for what you'll pay for a cheap one at an RV store... www.rvwholesalers.com $95.00 for a Pordigy.

Buy a Prodigy. You can get Prodigy controller with a direct-fit wiring harness so it just plugs into the truck and into the controller.

Buy a Prodigy...you can always sell it on e-bay after you no longer have any use for it.

For $89 bucks you can get a Prodigy. They are one of the best contollers you can buy. All you will need is a pigtail harness to plug it in and you're good to go.

This pic shows where to plug in the harness!

You can buy the controller here And you'll need part # 96-3015 from this page.

You really don't want a CHEAP brake controller! Get a Prodigy and be safe.

U-haul sells cheap ones. Or go online to SouthWest Weels or Brakecontrollers.com. You can get a timer or pendulum based controller for under $50. Be ready for that wonderful head snapping sensation at the toll booths, though!

Get a Prodigy from RVW, Ebay it when you're done.
