Hi Everyone,
This is probably a question asked many times, but how can I keep my black water tank squeaky clean, and stop "things" from clogging? We are stationary - so no towing, so the tank contents doesn't get jiggled around. When the honey wagon comes to pump us out, there always seems to be a problem. I fill up with water before they come, but then they always tell me it's empty -- even though the sensors say no; and sometimes I can see (with a flashlight down the toilet) that the sensors are correct!
I tried adding calgon water softener once, but it made the tank give off a horrible odor so I never did it again (YUCK).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I guess I need to know if there's any secrets to making the contents turn to liquid more quickly, or to making the sides of the tank repel the nasty stuff. (do use the deordizer stuff)
Thanks very much,
Doreen

I've heard great things about the Flush King from other owners, especially how it gets the sensors working again. I just recently bought one myself and was amazed that after dumping the tank and then using the Flush King, how much cleaner it got the tank.

Try putting in the black tank chemicals. They always work for me. Most sensors do not work.

Hi again,
Thanks, I do put in chemicals, but it seems that they don't do the job completely. Can you recommend a certain brand?
Also, if I use the "flush king" thingy, is it something that the campground pump-truck will use, since they're the ones doing the actual pumping? Is it something they hook up to that is already on my TT?
Someone at the campground told me to use olive oil, and that it would make the walls of the tank slippery so nothing would stick, but I'm a little leary of the smell that it might produce.

Flush King is used to backflush the tank when it is being dumped. Not something a dumping service is likely to do for you.
The tank rinsers will probably be a better alternative for you.

How often do they pump you out? are you seeing liquid or solids when you peer into the tank? If it's solids you need to break it up using whatever means required immediately after they've pumped you out. If it's liquid i'd suspect they're not emptying it 100%. They may be closing the valve before a full drain. As far as it needing to be spotless, there's no need for that. Just make sure you don't create a brown mountain.

As others have pointed out, you might be best served by using the Tornado Flush: Tornado Flush
As far as making the tank walls slippery, many of us have found that the GEO Method works pretty well: GEO Method
I'd first try the GEO Method and see if that worked.
