Well ok, if you insist. I think there are millions of lazy @$$ people in this country, and I don't think they ALL come from third world countries. That really isn't a fair assessment. Most people from these third world countries are too busy actually working at jobs that thieves don't want to take. I think that most of this theft is caused by, as some people on this forum like to say, "inconsiderate" people who have lived here since they were born. In our local outlet shopping center, people are stealing the catalytic converters from cars IN BROAD DAYLIGHT. I think some people look for the easy money (too much work for me, though.) I'm not sure what the answer is, though. Security guards aren't good, most seem to be too fat to move, it would cost too much to set up fake scrap yards, and thieves would be too smart for that anyway. My $.02, here come the flames.

No flames buddy, I think most of us here agree with you. We just don't want others who are here illegally (already breaking the law!) adding to the problem with more lawlessness. My hat is off to all the hard working, LEGAL immigrants who want to assimilate into our culture and be one of us.

Thanks for the support, and I like to feel like one of the guys! (Maybe I should change my screen name to something more feminine.) I'm not sure why people come here, for God's sake, sometimes I'm not sure why I want to live here. It's illegal to steal copper to make a few lousy bucks, but people are sticking their hands in my purse (and yours) for $4 soon to be $5 for a gallon of gas, making record profits, and THATS legal. We are so beyond screwed it's not even funny.

Same thing was on the news here last week. Someone also stole all the copper plumbing out from under a non-profits building.

Here in Florida, in the last year two people have been electrocuted b/c they were trying to pull live copper wire out of the ground. Also, recently, people have been caught in cemeteries going through dead peoples ashes to get the titanium out for recycle. The things people will do for money is uncomprehendable to me.

That's been happening here recently in alarming numbers. I'm getting phone calls quite often for adding the air conditioning units to the home security system. It can be done, but it isn't really easy to do. the thieves usually take the entire unit and rip it apart later on when they're in better cover.

Wow! More to worry about! We have to lock the LP tanks because some Meth head will steal those and now (probably) the same idiots want to steal the copper! Ugh! I am agreeing with others on this forum that things are getting worse and will continue to do so. The cost of living has increased significantly as a result of high gas prices and a recession! Now, we have to watch our backs for these scum!

We have been lucky so far to not have this type of activity in my small town, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time. These are times when neighborhood watch programs should be rejuvenated and perhaps we as campers should invoke some sort of campground watch that we all agree to. I, for one, would bend over backwards to help my neighbors near my home and my camping neighbors!

So, lets do this people, this is the official opening of the Campground Watch Program.....who's with me? (And....don't think I'm joking!)

Happy camping!

Some people up here had their cabin trashed for the copper pipes & wires last month. This is a very rural area 85 miles from the nearest city.
