Hi everyone....We are a military family moving from Georgia to Nevada this summer. The problem is we are leaving here July 5th and are looking for a place to stay just over night on the fifth but can't find anywhere since it is a Holiday and lots places in Tennessee don't take reservations!! Does anyone have any suggestions
Thanks,
Donna

Have you tried the KOA in Manchester, TN. It's about half way on your route.
Good luck. And thanks for your service.

There is another campground near Manchester at the 105 exit named "Whispering Oaks." It is farther off the road than the KOA, but it looks OK for an overnight stay.

Thanks for the replies....yes I did try the KOA. they won't let us stay just for an over-night because it is a holiday week!! I have been trying to call the Whispering Oaks but so far no answer. We may just have to stay in a motel that night...YUCK!!! Maybe I will get lucky and find something.
Thanks

I don't suppose there is anyway you can delay departure for a day or two.
BTW, we stay at the Manchester KOA each year on the way back from Florida to Chicago. Pretty park and friendly people. I wonder if you showed up and they weren't full if you could stay one night? Maybe another phone call would clear that up.

You could always use the Wally World on the same exit as the KOA. It's a very popular stop as every evening the outer edges are filled with semi's and RV's. Not sure about Whispering Pines. Not surprised that you cannot get hold of them. Have stopped by there a coupe of times and the office has never been opened and there's never been anybody around to talk to. Appeared to be a few lo-o-ong termers there but not much else. There is a very nice State Park, Old Stone Fort, located right in Manchester, not too far off the interstate. You might want to check it out.

Terry and Donna, I have make arrangements for you to stay at the Manchester KOA. You need to call and speak with Jerry or Barbara.
I sent an email to the address on your profile, it bounced. Hope you see this.

No we can't change our dates and I am one of those that likes to have everything planned and have reservations so we aren't driving all around trying to find somewhere to stay. my husband is active duty and gets home on the 1st and the movers/packers come on the 1st,2nd & 3rd so we really have no other time to leave to make it to Nevada by his report date. I just received a private message from the Manchester KOA and they have agreed to allow us to stay the one night
