I have them and have for the past three coaches. Sure they can get the fuel out if they really want to, but even though people can break a window to get into your coach does not mean you should not lock the door. It will discourage many if not most.

Now there's the solution. Surely no jury in the world would convict you of killing a gasoline thief. Geeeeez. What a mentality!..............

Having put one on my truck once I'd definitely say NO.
Depending on where you live in the winter they freeze and no key in the world is going to open it, and heating the key with your lighter is not conducive to safety.

Most MH's you can not siphon the gas out of them. I tried siphoning gas out of mine and could not.

I did meet a MH owner who somehow had his alarm system connected to the opening of the gas cap.

I caught someone trying to siphon gas out of my 2006 Sea Breeze tonight. I really don't want to go to jail for attempted murder so, I'm thinking of installing a locking gas cap. I've had some negative input from others that say the thieves will cut your fill hose to drain the tank. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Rick

And what did you do about it???????? Just tell the jerk to go away

As many know, the insurance companies rarely agree with making easy access to insured properity. Often they refuse to go along with making it easier for theft or damage.. One of the first questions asked is "what was done to negate the criminal actions.".. I lock up and also talk with my agent about the limits of coverage and what I must do to attain proper protection.. Paying my premion is the best protection I can get..

I have always used locking caps and will continue to do so. The reason has more to do with protection from vandalism and "malicious mischief" than fuel theft.

Thieves will indeed cut the fill hose if they have to, However... Most thieves will go for the easiest target and would rather not cut if they can simply remove.

That said, A dedicated thief will do what he has to do

However in doing he will leave evidence of his having been there and that too can be important

I'd put a locking cap on.. In fact I put a locking cap on

The last time we had gas shortages and lines (can't remember the exact year - '81?) I was riding with one of our sales guys. We were in line at a gas station when a woman in a similar car cut in front of us. The sales guy was livid! He fumed for a while, then got out and removed his locking gas cap. He walked up and installed it on the offending car. He came back with a satisfied smile and we drove away to find gas elsewhere.
