We were in line at a gas station when a woman in a similar car cut in front of us. The sales guy was livid! He fumed for a while, then got out and removed his locking gas cap. He walked up and installed it on the offending car. He came back with a satisfied smile and we drove away to find gas elsewhere.

Locking fuel door, if they want it they will get it I'm sure.
Try not to park in those kind of places though.

Yes, unless of course they too are armed, draw down on you, and kill or injure you or a member of your family or an innocent bystander. Sure, entertaining AND fun. Gotta love the mentality of the gun-toters.
Gun toters? Whew, I thought maybe you just couldn't take some joking and were pointing that barb at me. Not that I even own a gun, which I don't, but I do watch a lot of Country Fried Home Videos on CMT. You should check it out, really, they own guns and are very entertaining at times with them. Especially that repeater BB gun episode where they knocked out the entire tv screen, that was hilarious.
Maybe you simply need a DECAFFEINATED Diet Coke or something so you can just enjoy the forum and chill out.

I would say yes on the gas cap. I know that the fuel tank on mine they can't get to it, fact it is hard to tell where the tank is. So a fuel cap might help or make it rougher for them to get the siphon hose in. I have a diesel, and it come equiped with a cover already off the factory.

Now there's the solution. Surely no jury in the world would convict you of killing a gasoline thief. Geeeeez. What a mentality!..............
Lighten up guy, it was said in jest, I think. Maybe aim for a knee cap instead of killing the thief, or just bust a cap into the ground. (I would have said into the air, but I know that would draw comments about how the bullet would always fall into some innocent's head).
You gotta laugh at some of the bad things that happen.

I just found this on another forum.
You can't get a hose to the gas because there is a check valve in the filler tube. The check valve prevents all the gas from running out if the vehicle overturns and is also part of the vapor recovery system.
And you can't punch a hole in the tank because the tanks on both Ford and Workhorse are plate steel.
Gas siphoning days are over. Everyone can relax.

Rick, you're not too far from us.
Never had a locking gas cap in all my years of driving. "BUT" After 1.5 months, returning home after Hurricane Katrina, gas stations were few and far between, we started noticing that the tanks on both the GC and the Blazer seemed to go down lots faster than usual. Spent the +-$20 for locking gas caps and it stopped. Gas was less than $2 then. We've just kept them, got used to them and now pretty glad as some neighbors have had the same problems with the increased costs of fuel. If the fuel lines are cut or the tank punctured, well so be it. Not gonna change how we do things now. Locks keep semi honest people out of your stuff but don't mean diddly to a thief
