Our friends have a Fleetwood Westlake with a Thetford cassette toilet. They have been unable to put water in the toilet to "flush" it. When pulling out the first tube 90 degrees, only a bit of water goes in, much like it is blocked. nothing shows on the clear tube that any water has gone in. when pushing the flush button, it sounds like it wants to put water in the bowl.
the camper is new and the toilet has never been used. I suggested they take it back to the dealer to have them check it out.

Is there a simple fix?

Cindy
You state it's not been used, is it in a new or used trailer?
Either way You have given them the best advice about returning it to dealer.
I live just down the road from Columbus looks like we are going to have a pretty day.

There is a small, green, funnel that fits into the filler tube. It's about an inch and a half high. Without it, it is very difficult to get water into holding tank, although it can be done.

The funnel is usually stored behind the handle at the bottom of the catch tank. Someone may have stuck it in a drawer, though.

I don't have a "green funnel" for mine, but there is a funny looking swing out grey "filling funnel" fixture with a yellow cap on the top of the flush water tank that swings out. I just swing it out, remove the cap, and fill the holding tank through that. It has a sort of trap arrangement built into it that causes it to fill up nearly to overflowing before the water goes down into the tank. In the Thetford manual it is shown as part "j" for the electric flush model, part "i" for the manual flush toilets.

I had the same thing happen to me. Your toilet is not broken. If you keep holding your hose there, I actually stick mine in the water, even though the water level is at the top of the fill funnel, the water continues to go in and will fill up the tank. Since this is my first pup, I thought I was crazy the first time I tried to set mine up. I don't know if they all are supposed to do this, but that is how I set mine up, and everything works fine.

Guess they change the colors for the different models, but in any case, there should be a funnel like thing that fits the swing out filler after you remove the cap. That extra inch and a half or two inches are all that's needed to make filling easy. I usually use a bucket because by the time I get around to it, I've already put the hoses away. Darn CRS

I know it took me a couple of times before I figured out what that thing was for. Guess it would help to actually read a manual once in awhile.

Not all the toilets come with the funnel but you can use a third party funnel or use a water container with its own funnel.

As others have said you have to keep pouring water until you see the water in the sight glass.

Hope the helps.

The same thing happened to me when I first got my popup. On mine there is a clear plastic tube that you can watch fill and you also drain the water also. I had to pull the tube as I filled the tank up to force the air out. Never have had an issue since.

Thanks everybody!

I had the same issue.....used the Funnel and it works fine. Sometimes we'll fill it before opening the Pop Up, we drop the nose of the camper first and then fill it up. There is always water left in the fill tube, guess thats normal
