My family would like to plan a horseback day trip somewhere around Yosemite this summer. Any suggestions where stables are located that will "rent" horses and send you on trails?

Thanks in advance...

Seems like when I was up there last October I think there were two stables inside the park that rented horses. It's not my thing so I didn't ask if you could rent them and go out on your own or if you had to have a guide. I just remember seeing the stables there. Bet it would be fun in the park, pretty views up there.

I know that there is a stable on 41 near the railroad just outside the entrance. Try Google.

everything in the park, rental wise, is guided. No hitting the trails on your own with rental horses. Not sure of policy with bringing your own.

There are horse rentals in Wawona south of the valley at the South entrance. Nice day trip if you are staying in the valley. There is a small pioneer town, horse riding, stage coach rides all right there next to the Wawona Inn. You are close to the Mariposa grove also from there for the giant sequoias. We camped at Wawona a few years ago and had a great time.

There is a stable right in the valley that has guided trail rides. Also I believe there is a stable in tuolome meadows. The stable in the valley is close to the campgrounds and we rode our bikes to it. Even if it is sunny, bring a jacket. We got to the top of vernal falls, looked behind us and a huge black cloud came up over the hill bringing hail! It hailed on us until we got to a lower elevation, then it was just pouring rain. Never been so cold in my life, but I would do it again. Great trails to ride on!
