I just picked up my 2006 Starcraft 21SB and I noticed that there is a lot of cracking on the sidewalls and into the tread of the tires it can't be wear I purchased it new last year July and only made short trips maybe 1000 km. I left a message with the dealership I bought it from I hope they will do something about it. Has anyone else had any issues like this and what happened?

Check the tires manufacturer date. About the only thing OTHER than tires being too old would be tires exposed to ultra-violet light without protection of either "rolling" quite often or being covered.

It seems we are finding that even the tires fresh off the tire dealer's shelf are not necessarily "new". The DOT date codes show that sometimes the tires are over a year old and tires age from day one so even if they haven't been on the road, they have started to deteriorate. At this point, your beef is probably with the tire mfr and not the dealer but I do wish you luck.

Sounds like you need a new set of tires.

That really stinks! I'd document the cracking and contact both the TT manufacturer and the tire manufacturer. Take whatever they will give, but think about removing those tires. Even if they don't pay you might be avoiding further problems that would cost way more than tires.

What was the manufacturer of the tire? I just got replacements from the manufacturer for mine. My TT was less than a year old and they replaced them for free, so far I am still "negotiating" the mounting and balancing. My tires were NANCO's and they were doing the same thing, cracking around and across the sidewall into the tread area.

I'd bee getting a new set of tires, but, push the dealer for them. That type of thing should still be under warranty.

I have a 2007 TT and have had the same problem. I was having a lot of sway issues and when I took the camper out this spring I had to have all 5 tires replaced under warranty. The sway issues were corrected right away. I was told the code at the end of the DOT is four digit. Week of the year and the year of manafacturer. Mine were several years old. I don't know if it is true but I was told they are allowed to sell them as old as 7 years. Mine were actually older than that. They should have no problem replacing them under warranty.
