Many of you had followed our daughter's situation back at the beginning of the year. Jennifer continues to do well.

When we were in the I.C.U. at UCLA, we had a wonderful little girl that was next to us and she stole our hearts. She had been in the ICU from birth, a total of 10 months. When I first met Sara, her smile melted my heart. She showed me that my daughter had left some of my heart behind, only to have what was left broken again by little Sara.

When I was back at UCLA for a visit, I stopped by to visit Sara and she was gone. I right away thought the worse and with confidentiality laws, I was having a hard time finding out what had happened.
Well, after finding one of my favorite nurses that had taken great care of Jennifer, she told me where Sara was.
I visited with her yesterday in a long-term care hospital and took some pictures.

Sara remains in this hospital and we wonder why she isn't at home when in reality, she could be cared for there. If I was a little younger and Jen was better, I'd be having adoption papers drawn-up!!

Now I know my daughter is the prettiest but Sara runs a very close second. Enjoy the picture and keep Sara in your prayers. No child should have to spend their life in a hospital. Sara celebrated her first birthday last week.

May God find her some wonderful loving parents. As you said, no child should be raised in a "home".

What an adorable little girl! Have her parents given her up for adoption, or horror of horrors, have they just decided to leave her in the hospital?

She is precious! I hope there is more to the story than you know or they have shared with you. That wonderful baby needs more than care, she needs her family as well as lots and lots of LOVE.

Great news about Jen doing so well Steve!

Well, she isn't available for adoption (my adoption comment was an "off-the-cuff" remark) and her mother comes and sees her almost every day and loves Sara very much. In the months at UCLA, I never did see the father but nurses tell me he also visits.

I can certainly speak of the fears that parents have bringing a special needs child home for the first time. I am not sure of all of the details with Sara or why she isn't home but do pray that her parents will take that step if and when Sara and they are ready.

We spent a long time in the ICU when our daughter had her liver transplant and incured her brain injury 18 years ago.
Even though we have spent considerable time in the hospital setting, for some reason Sara made our stay last January/February very emotional for me. It may have been because we were in the same room that we were in 18 years ago but I think Sara, being around the age Jennifer was back then , really brought back painful memories. And then there is Sara's smile.........
How can anyone not be affected by a wonderful child like her.

Please pray for Sara and her parents and then give your loved ones a hug and be thankful you have one another! Life is so fragile and short.
