i am about to get a new Surveyor 304 which is 6500# dry with a 836# tongue dry. i had my dealer leave out the hitch from the deal mainly b/c he charges $650 for it and i can order it for $400 from rvwholesalers.com. my question is, since they are the same price, should i get the one with 1000# bars, 10000# trailer, or step up to the one with 1200# bars and 12000# trailer?
thanks in advance!!!

What's the GVWR of your trailer? That will help determine which size you should get.

Since you don't know the "real" weight, I would go with the 1200# bars to give yourself some room.JMHO

The GVWR of the 304 Surveyor is around 9,000 Pounds

First as noted above, use the real weight or the GVWR for the trailer. Second, I would get a Reese Dual Cam HP hitch.

Love my Equal-i-zer, and prefer it over my more classic WDH. 1200# for sure, and they'll be heavy! Make sure to add an electric tongue jack if not already ordered! If that $650 was installed, then that's a pretty typical price, otherwise RVW and a few hours on a Saturday afternoon with some time at the CAT scale is all you need.
