We are planning to attend a rv rally at Niagara Falls Canada next month and were wondering if anyone out there knows what kind of paperwork you'll need for a dog. Ours has had all his shots, rabies, parvo, distemper, etc. Is there is anything else he'll need? He's a little Lhasa Apso.

Take the dog's shot records. We've never been asked for them going into Canada, but we have been asked coming back into the States.

Hi whistlebritches! I haven't taken our dogs (two Lhasas and one Maltese mix) into Canada so I don't have the information you are asking for.... what I want to do is say I LOVE your screen name. My favorite aunt used to call me that when I was young!

Oh and you have good taste in dog breeds!

IMO get a Well Animal form filled out by vet and signed. Also list of shots signed by vet. Some places we've been only accept signed papers.

I'm free of prostate cancer for 5 years now.
All men over age 50 should get an annual PSA blood test. Mine had a low reading, but the yearly jump was significant. The biopsy showed cancer just entering the aggressive stage. Dr. Hackenslash removed it.

We carry a letter signed by our vet listing all the shots and the expiry date of each shot, dogs name, breed and birthdate. Have not been asked for it, but I know friends that have been asked for proof of ownership and birthday, etc. Have a great trip.

Health Certificate, from the Vet, same as you would need to ship FIDO via Airfreight. and they Check. One trip thru they did not care about the dog, but I had a 1 & 3 year old strapped in the backseat. Thank goodness I had the Power of Attorney allowing me to take the kids out of country(into canada from Alaska) US Customs has never hassled us, guess that Military ID Card helps....

While they might not always ask, remember they can.

If your pet is on a prescription diet, carry a prescription. They can confiscate pet food. The most usual reasons why they raise issue are problems with protein sources, ie, something like avian flu.

I have my dogs on a type of food I can buy on either side of the border.

& I, I took the road less travelled by.

We carry all our records but the only thing that you really need is your rabies certificate, however I have never been ask for it or any other papers. The last time the officials, in both directions came into the MH to sight the dogs and see if they appeared healthy. We have 3 Flat Coated Retrievers which we show in Canada and US. It was more of a problem determining what dog food we could take across the border
