Many years ago I was in line (with my wife) to see a Museum in London, England. There was a panhandler selling 'home made' Museum programs to the line up. A rep came out from the museum saying that this individual was not at all associated with the Museum and not to encourage him, by buying his wares.
After we left the Museum, we happened to see the fellow counting out all the money he had made.
If I recall he got into a Reliant Robin 3 wheeler. If his take that day was typical, he could of done much better than the Reliant.
He probably could of afforded toi buy the Berkley sports car...the one with the 328cc Villiers 2 stroke twin, motorcycle engine. I saw one in Canada, back in the '60's.

Funny you should mention the little hop toady BMW Isetta with the one door that clamshelled forward. Then instead of the 360cc motor graft on a 1200cc VW engine and transmission to the rear under a squared off sheet metal cover. A guy who ran a VW repair business in SoCal built a few of these in the early 60’s. With 10” stock wheels in front and VW 15” wheels in back it did look like a strange red insect but ran pretty quick up to 75mph or so. You could throw it around without problems and carry it sideways through corners with ease. Breaks were a bit of a problem. Ran mine for a couple of years before the draft board got me and don’t remember what became of it. What a ball to play with, great fun.

I remember those. Here is a link toGoliath by Borgward the history and some pictures of different models It was made by Borgward, who also made the Isabella.
I remember seeing an Isabella being driven around my area. There was also a guy with an Italian Facel-Vega.
There was a dealer up here in thelate '50's, early '60's. I think they also sold JAWA -CZ motorcycles from Czechoslovakia.

There was a Lous dealer up here that used to sell Lotus 7's..a little cigar shaped car, very fast and nothing could stay with it in the corners. Then there were also a few Lotus Elan, like the kind Mrs. Peel (Diana Rigg- now there is an actress) used to drive in the Avengers TV show.

This one is in our neighborhood. The owners parent gave it to him new for a college graduation present. It is now chained up on their loading dock.
I owned a MG 1100 2-dr sedan in high school. Front wheel drive and a liquid suspension.
That's it the Urkel car, the BMW Isetta. Came with a 250 cc BMW (360cc in later models) motorcycle engine. BMW has come a long way since then, when you look at the BMW 750 sedan.

Probably the most fun car I have ever owned. I have had a Porsche, Z cars, 60's cars, etc but nothing drew a crowd like the two horses. Wish I had never sold it and will buy another someday when the time is right.
I recall talking to two Frenchmen who were driving their 2CV around the world, or so they told me. Looked like a corrugated metal shed, but I'm sure the price was right.

I've seen one Berkley...looked like a miniature MG Midget, with different styling.

I once had a 1961 Simca that got 53 mpg highway. Bought it for $200. used (no brakes) and drove it for 125K miles. Then sold it to a fellow for $75. who drove it for about 75K miles. He then sold it to someone else for $75. Never hear of it after that.
