Hello, I'm new to camping (haven't been yet) any way I have a 1984 Itasca motorhome and the fridge has a ammonia smell. Does that mean it's no good? It cools when hooked up to electric from the house. The only numbers I can read on the model is 831 can't read the rest. HELP

The ammonia smell is not a good thing. The Ammonia is used as the refrigerant. It sounds as though you may have a leak. If you have leaked all of the refrigerant, it will not cool on electric or gas. Have a dealer look it over to determine if you have a leak. Good luck.
