Hello!

We are looking for a ocean front campground in either North or South Carolina, something very close to the beach. We have been looking at Myrtle Beach or Charleston. Any suggestions would be great!! Thanks so much!!!

If you want to get away from it all, Hunting Island is great! Right on the ocean, but not a lot else to do and a pretty good drive to get to civilization. If you want all the amenities, then I would recommend Myrtle Beach Travel Park. If you want something in-between, then James Island County Park in Charleston is nice. It's a short drive from the beach, but it has nice bike trails and it's right next to a waterpark.

We're recent transplants to NC and I haven't been to the beach yet but I've had a couple people tell me to go here: Myrtle Beach Travel Park.

If you end up going, please give us a report.

Thanks!

Don't usually camp much at the beach, but when we do, we camp at Ocean Lakes in Myrtle Beach. If you have children, there are plenty of things for them to do. Me and my husband usually camp there in the winter, no children, just 1 demanding Jack Russell. Most sites have plenty of space and concrete pads.

A little further north is Cape Hatteras National Seashore, several choices there. In the Rodanthe/Salvo/Waves area there are 3 next to each other, Camp Hatteras, KOA, & Ocean Waves Campground, all three offer W-E-S-CaTV-Free WiFi, pools, ocean front etc...

Hunting Island State Park is fantastic. Huntingdon Beach State park is almost as good.

I would 2nd Myrtle Beach Travel Park. We stayed there last summer for a week with our teen grandson and we had a great time. Excellent site steps from the beach. Outstanding pools, one inside the other outside, also a lazy river. Fishing lake, store, covered cabanas and real nice showers and bathroom facilities. Sites are plenty big enough. You will not be disappointed. Customer service is very helpful. Good luck.
